shipping department

As we’re ramping up for the holiday season, it’s time to get your shipping & receiving operations into tip top shape. Adam Equipment offers various scales to help any warehouse minimise errors and improve efficiency. Let’s dive into our top 5!

1.    Platform Scales

Platforms are one of the largest types of scales available for a warehouse, built to withstand overlarge or heavy shipments that need to be weighed. Adam Equipment’s are ideal for shipping departments that use hand-trucks as their primary method of transporting packages for weighing. The PTM is designed with ramps and bumpers that make rolling the hand-truck on the platform especially easy.

For shipping warehouses that feature more vertical space than horizontal and require a forklift to maneuver pallets and crates between high shelves all day, our PT Platform may be more your speed. With platform options between 1000mm2 and 1500mm2 there’s plenty of room for a forklift to drive up and lower the pallet or crate onto the platform.

Do you operate a hand-truck and forklift equally as often? Pair Adam Equipment’s PT Platforms with ramp accessories to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Should you not have the space to dedicate to a platform scale, Adam’s AELP Pallet Beams can be spread apart up to 5 metres to accommodate the largest of shipments, then be stacked and stored away until next use.

2.   Counting Scales

The next pickup is looming and you’re rushing to fulfill those last few orders so the shipments go out according to schedule. When time is of the essence, or even when you value your own time and effort in general, a counting scale is an effective partner. Counting scales like Adam Equipment’s Cruiser CCT can take the average weight of a small sample of identical pieces to provide an accurate count of many. Three displays share the total weight, individual piece weight and the piece count for absolute transparency.

Counting a ton of parts by hand can take a significant amount of time and there’s always the risk of miscounting. This can lead to dissatisfied customers, whether it’s for long waiting times or for receiving the incorrect count of items. Jaguar Land-Rover was struggling to pack large orders, some up to 4000 single parts, in a timely fashion before they discovered Adam Equipment’s GBC Counting Scales. By employing an army of GBC’s, JLR was able to complete picking orders in up to 85% less time.

3.    Checkweighing Scales

Everything has a weight limit – from boxes to delivery trucks. Weight limits are usually enforced because going beyond may lead to structural integrity being compromised, which could lead not only to product being damaged but workers being harmed as well. Cardboard boxes, for example, are measured in burst strength, or how much force it can take before breaking. In shipping departments, it’s a balancing act packing each box, crate or pallet with enough product to justify its use without going overboard.

Checkweighing scales allow you to input high and low weight limits. Adam Equipment’s GFK-Plus Checkweighing Scale offers a full numeric keypad to enter in your exact desired limits. Once entered, the display changes colours to a vivid yellow, green or red if the weight is below, within or over the limits. This allows you to place a box on the scale and keep track in real time to ensure you’re not over or under packing.

Adam Equipment’s AE 403, GK-S and GK-Plus indicators also offer colour-changing displays and can be connected to any Adam platform for high capacity checkweighing. Ensure the safety of your employees and delivery drivers by respecting the weight limits on your crates, pallets, equipment and trucks.

4. Label Printing Scales

Label printing scales print sticky labels that you can customise to include whatever information you’d like. Then all you do is weigh a package, press the Print button on your scale and out pops an instant record of the weight, piece count, checkweighing result, date, time and more. You can even include a bar or QR code.

Instantly improve traceability with the power to label each package or pallet with the exact date and time the weight was taken. Minimise errors by taking the data recording out of your own hands and get accurate and reliable information at your fingertips. Plus, catch potential issues sooner rather than later if the piece count recorded on the label isn’t what was requested. They’re also especially helpful for stock taking season, recording the piece count in each box for easy recall later.

For extra versatility, Adam Equipment’s AE 503 and 504 indicators can be paired with any Adam platform scale. Weigh your way!

5.    Pallet Truck Scales

If so, you’re likely looking for a weighing scale that will help you maintain your momentum, rather than slow it down. Pallet truck scales like Adam Equipment’s and PTSPlus will give you the best bang for your buck, allowing you to transport and weigh palletised goods at the same time. But wait – there’s more!
